What is incoming channel?
Incoming channel is used to receive an incoming call. 1 incoming call uses 1 incoming channel. Thus Anveo phone number needs at least one free (unused) incoming channel (whether a dedicated, floating or 'No Busy/Burst' channel) to receive a call.
Dedicated/Floating/'No Busy/Burst' channels
Dedicated Channel is a channel assigned to a particular phone number and thus can only receive calls made to that number.
Floating Channel is NOT assigned to any particular phone number and it can be used to receive calls from any phone number (which support Floating channels) in your account or from Inbound SIP Trunk.
'No Busy/Burst Capacity' is a channel which can be optionally enabled for a phone number and can receive calls when no more free channels left for the phone number.
In what order channels are used?
Anveo uses incoming channels in the following order:
1. Dedicated Channels first
2. Floating Channels next
3. Additionally Purchased channels (if any) next
4. 'No Busy/Burst Capacity' channels (if enabled) last
Does incoming call use incoming channel when the call is forwarded to PSTN/SIP/Skype etc?
Yes it does.
Can calls be forwarded to another number or Voicemail if a phone number is over channels limit?
No, when a phone number is out of incoming channels (dedicate channels, floating channels, burst capacity plus additional channels purchased) the calls will not be processed and the caller will hear a busy signal.
How can I increase the number of concurrent incoming calls?
There are a number of options:
1. You can select a subscription plan with more 'Floating Channels' included
2. You can purchase additional incoming channels at $17 per month per channel.
3. You can enable 'No Busy/Burst Capacity' option for a phone number.
Can I limit a number of concurrent incoming calls a phone number can receive?
Yes, Anveo phone number has an option to select the maximum number of incoming calls a phone number can receive.
